You have to realize that once physical abuse has happened in the relationship, it will happen again. Warning signs of a breakup should not be ignored.

- Over the board jealousy or possessiveness. They have unreasonable feelings of jealousy and they expect to know your every move all the time.

- Your loved one tries to control your entire life by being very bossy. They want to control the way you dress, who you can be friends with and what you should do with your free time.

- It is obvious they could become abusive when they have a history of being abusive in their previous relationships

- Your significant other does things that make you uncomfortable or embarrass you in public

- Excessive alcohol consumption and drug abuse could also lead to a change in personality that could result in your partner to become very abusive

- Physical abuse is one of the obvious warning signs of a breakup. Once your partner starts hurting you physically, its time to pack your bags and leave them. No amount of reasoning could justify physical pain.

- Instability is a sure sign of an abusive relationship. If your partner goes through highs and lows all the time, then that could be harmful to your relationship.
